An exchange particle is a particle which is used to transfer a force in a particle interaction.

Types of exchange particles

photons for the electromagnetic force
gluons for the strong nuclear force
gravitons for the gravitational force
w plus bosons, w minus bosons and z bosons for the the weak nuclear force
