Prime factor decomposition

Prime factor decomposition (or ‘prime factorisation’) is where we split up a number into the prime number factors of that number. For example, the prime factor decomposition of 12 is 2^2 \times 3^1 because 12 = 2 \times 2 \times 3 and the prime factors of 12 are 2 and 3.
